Description:
Iran sanctions enforcement entered a new phase with the triggering of the UN snapback mechanism on 28 September 2025, reinstating a broad set of UN Security Council sanctions that were suspended under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). This development has significantly reshaped compliance expectations for financial institutions, corporates, and trade actors operating across European and global markets.
In this webinar, we will examine the implications of a snapback and what compliance professionals should understand about the sanctions architecture that has re-emerged.
We will explore the sanctions framework established under UN Security Council Resolutions 1737, 1747, 1803, and 1929, and how these measures once again impose restrictions targeting Iran’s nuclear and missile programmes.
We will also look at the sanctions developments that have taken place since the US-Iran War commenced on 28 February 2026.
Highlights of the webinar will include:
-
Understanding the UN sanctions obligations that would apply following snapback
-
Examining proliferation financing risks and FATF expectations on targeted financial sanctions related to Iran
-
Assessing additional EU sanctions measures that may accompany or extend beyond UN requirements
-
Exploring the UK sanctions framework and policy direction following snapback
-
Reviewing the continued expansion of U.S. sanctions targeting Iran’s oil facilitation networks
This session is designed for sanctions, compliance, and risk professionals seeking practical insights into managing exposure to Iran-related sanctions in a rapidly evolving regulatory environment.
