Event Information

Come join us for the London Chapter’s first ever Interactive Sanctions Roundtables.

The event will feature five round tables on various sanctions topics, with up to ten people per table, each with an expert moderator.

Attendees will be able to choose two of the five roundtables. The first 40 mins will be spent discussing the topic at the first roundtable, then there will be a switch to the second roundtable choice for another 40 mins.

Finally, the event will conclude with a chance to network over some drinks and nibbles.​

Katarina Cook

Currently work as Head of Financial Crime and MLRO at RBC Brewin Dolphin, responsible for our AML/CTF, Sanctions, Fraud, Market Abuse and ABC risk management framework. Previous roles include Head of Compliance & MLRO for Europe Arab Bank, Dep MLRO for Bank ABC and Head of Conduct & Regulatory Affairs for RBS Netherlands. Originally from Sweden, with a degree in Political Science and Russian, I moved to London in 2005. Initially I held several different KYC and AML related roles in ABN Amro/RBS, which sparked my interest in financial crime and led to a career in financial crime prevention for financial institutions. Engagement with the wider industry is instrumental in the fight against financial crime and I have always enjoyed taking on roles outside of employment. For 5 years I was a member of the ACAMS UK Chapter and am now the Chair for the TISA Financial Crime Working Group.

Gavin Irwin

Gavin Irwin is a specialist advocate in financial crime, business regulation and professional conduct. He has a wealth of experience across complementary disciplines. In addition to providing representation before courts and tribunals, Gavin regularly advises individuals and businesses on: sensitive issues concerning financial and trade sanctions, export controls, fraud, money laundering, bribery and corruption risk management, corporate investigations and civil penalty procedures extradition and Interpol Red Notices conduct and discipline issues involving professional and business regulatory authorities and at Coroner’s Inquests

Stacy Keen

Stacy advises corporates, financial institutions, insurers and charities on a host of regulatory and compliance issues covering trade and financial sanctions, export controls, bribery and money laundering. She advises on all aspects of EU and UK sanctions and is also familiar with the application of US sanctions. Her experience includes advising on the conduct of internal investigations, responding to suspected violations and defending enforcement actions. Stacy’s practice regularly involves dealings with a range of enforcement and regulatory bodies including the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service, Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs, the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation, the Serious Fraud Office and the Department for International Trade. As well as advising on contentious matters, Stacy has in-depth experience in compliance advisory work including the conduct of risk assessments, implementation of risk based compliance programmes, stress testing of control measures and the delivery of training.

Haider Mannan

Haider Mannan is the founder of risk intelligence data provider BigTXN. He is a data scientist and subject matter expert in investment screening, specialising in ESG controversies, global sanctions and investment restrictions. Haider is a member of PRMIA's SME advisory expert group on buy-side investment risk and sits on the membership committee of the UK Sustainable Investment and Finance Association.
