Description:

Both the US and the EU have dramatically increased their expectations for sanctions and export controls due diligence. The EU courts have played a key role in this. Although both jurisdictions have approached the topic from different perspectives, EU court decisions have the practical impact of driving a convergence around a shared expectation of risk-based due diligence based on identifying and mitigating due diligence risk.

Join us to learn (1) the latest developments, (2) their practical implications, (3) and how sanctions and export controls compliance officers can best protect themselves and their companies from enforcement risk due to failed due diligence efforts.

Key takeaways:

  • Understand trends in regulators’ and courts’ expectations for EU due diligence
  • Understand how those trends, in practice, converge with US expectations
  • Key trends in 2024 and what we expect to see in 2025
  • How compliance teams can best prepare
