Ian is the Team Leader and Key Expert on EU Restrictive Measures for the EU Sanctions Helpdesk. With a strong background in international financial services spanning Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, Ian now offers consulting and training services to organisations aiming to enhance their sanctions compliance. He is an active member of the ACSS, for which he is also a course instructor.

Frederik van Essen

Senior Legal and Compliance Expert
EU Sanctions Helpdesk

Frederik is Senior Legal and Compliance Expert for the EU Sanctions Helpdesk. Prior to starting his legal advisory firm, Frederik worked in legal consultancy, advising clients on export controls, sanctions, and data protection, and also served as EMA Trade Compliance Manager for a US machinery manufacturing multinational. He is a certified member of the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS) and the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).

Dimitrios Chaidas

Dimitrios is a Senior Communications Expert for the EU Sanctions Helpdesk, overseeing its website, content, and communications. As the founder and Managing Director of his communications firm, he has led the strategic planning of large-scale projects across Europe and beyond.

He has advised more than 10 European Union departments and agencies on engaging millions of citizens and stakeholders in Europe and abroad within the framework of EU external action.

Ivy Llena has over 14 years of experience in the learning and development field, providing capacity-building and professional development programs for corporate and social service agencies in the US and the Philippines.

Before joining ACSS, she was a program director at a non-profit organization in the Philippines, where she co-designed and co-implemented economic empowerment programs and services for survivors of human trafficking and their families. Ivy also served at the Social Policy Institute at Washington University in St. Louis, where she led and contributed to inclusive economic growth initiatives.
